Debbie has been with us since 2006. After ten (10) years of practicing commercial and civil litigation (including employment and estates disputes), her practice has recently expanded to include residential real estate transactions, commercial transactions, wills and estates planning and estates administration.
Debbie’s litigation background informs her transactional practice through her first-hand knowledge of common pitfalls and mistakes which can lead to lawsuits, and how to avoid them. Similarly, her direct involvement in transactional processes enhances her understanding of the practical issues at stake when representing her litigation clients. Regardless of the nature of the client, Debbie uses her experience to help her clients achieve their goals, avoid or limit litigation where possible, and obtain the most beneficial and efficient outcome available.
Before joining BSLSC, Debbie articled with a corporate/commercial Bay Street firm and then completed a Masters in Law in International Human Rights, followed up with an internship with the UNDP in India, where she conducted legal research on the interface between human rights and HIV/AIDS.
When not working, Debbie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, volunteering for organizations she is passionate about, practicing yoga, and occasionally getting out to the movies.
